FESTIVAL OVERVIEW

The 7th Annual Cooper River Dragon Boat Regatta will be a community and sport team Dragon Boat Festival, featuring 200 meter races running from approximately 8:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Teams of 16-20 paddlers (plus one drummer) will compete three times. 

​

RACING CLASSES

  • Mixed: Teams must comprise a mix of men and women (a minimum of eight (8) women required)

  • Women's: Teams must be comprised of all women paddlers and drummer. Steer person may be male or female

  • Senior D - Mixed: All paddlers must be adults 65+

  • Youth Division - Mixed: Teams must be comprised of all paddlers under 24.

    • (Youth Teams will receive a 25% discount and can apply to ERDBA for an additional 25% discount).

  • All Cancer Division - Mixed: All Paddlers must be Cancer Survivors

  • All Cancer Division - Women: All Paddlers must be Cancer Survivors

TEAM REGISTRATION FEE: (Registration opens 1/1/2023)

  • $1,400 for all teams (registration received by April 15)

  • $1,500 for all teams (registration received by June 15)

  • $1,600 for all teams (registration received on or after June 16)

  • Multi-team discounts are available! Teams sending three or more crews from the same club will receive a $100 discount on the third and subsequent crew(s).

  • Youth Teams will receive a 25% discount and can apply to ERDBA for an additional 25% discount.

TEAM TENTS AVAILABLE:

Would you like to bypass the hassle of transporting, dragging around and putting up your own team tent? You can rent a 10 x 10 team tent for $175.00. Complete the Team Tent portion on the registration form if you are interested.

Are You a Community Team?? We want you!!! Community Teams will have an opportunity for one free, one hour coached dragon boat training session on Saturday, July 15, 2023. Teams who do not own their own dragon boat and participate in less than 3 races per season may register as a Community Team. 

​

Any team who would like to purchase additional practices can do so by sending an email to Cooperriverdbf@gmail.com re: additional practice. Each extra practice costs $200. You practice will include a USDBF Certified coach and a steer person. These will be held rain or shine and there is no refund for missed practices.   

​

In addition to competition, the Cooper River Dragon Boat Regatta will feature music, food and merchandise vendors, as well as informational exhibits for paddlers, friends and family to enjoy.

​

Race day schedule will be published the week of the Regatta.

​

The Cooper River Dragon Boat Regatta is held rain or shine and no refunds will be given.
